Lab Update Sept 27, 2019

September 27, 2020

Dear Lab Families,

This week has been full of wonderful firsts! The launch of our new “learning garden” and Edible Schoolyard Curriculum. A visit by some very darling chickens all the way from Ojai. The start of our SharEducate co-work space for teachers and their afternoon classes. Liz Traviosa of TLP education started her Spanish classes on Tuesdays at 3:30, and Crystal Barron from the Barron Academy of Voice will begin singing classes this coming Friday at 1:15. Learn more about our SharEducators and sign-up for their classes here: https://www.lablearning.org/shareducate-classes

For photos of this week and wonderful happenings at The Lab, look on our website under “us in action” https://www.lablearning.org/us-in-action or follow us on our Instagram account at the.lab.learning.space If you’ve not been checking these spots for photos, then you are in for a treat!

Announcements for this coming week:

1. Sign-Up for Family Huddles! Please sign-up for a time to meet with your child’s Lab Advisor/Teacher. Each huddle will last 30 minutes. During Family Huddles, you will work with Perri or Mr. T and your child to create a learning plan for your child's time at The Lab this Fall. Your child and their Lab Advisors (Perri and Mr. T) will then use this plan to set daily learning goals at the Lab and guide their work. Please be sure to sign-up this Monday. Huddle times are October 1st-15th between 3:15-5:00 .

2. Donate Now to “Fill-Our-Funding-Gap.” The Lab MUST raise $90,000 by end of the academic year to continue to operate. These are NOT extra dollars. The donated funds help cover teacher salaries, rent, and utilities. Because of the dramatic cuts that occurred across the state in May, these are dollars we need just to function at our current level. If every Lab family commits to contributing $150 a month for 12 months starting this month, either directly or through forming a coalition of family and friends, The Lab will be on solid footing. Any amount helps! Please don't wait, click now because what happens now determines what is possible later.

"Fill-the-Gap" Funds Raised by Family & Friends as of Today

Current donations: $5088

# of Lab Families donating: 3 out of 40 (8%)

# of Friends of a Lab Family donating: 1

3. Check-in with your Charter School Teacher regularly. Every student is required to check-in with their on-line Charter School Teacher at least once a month to review progress on their learning and curriculum. Your child's school is Epic, Inspire, iLead, Sky Mountain or Compass, NOT The Lab. So please be sure to check-in with your charter school teacher regularly and respond to their emails! It helps them and it helps us support your child. If you are confused about who your child's charter school teacher is, or you are having trouble reaching them, let us know and we can help you connect with them.
